SCRA NEWS FROM THE PRESIDENT - AUGUST
23, 2008
Ray's News:
On August 5th, Ray
took pictures of the lower spring and Indian spring. This was done to
improve the water system and the photos will help when he meets with an
Engineer sometime next week. New tanks have been ordered for both
springs. The tanks will be set up with fire fittings so that fire
trucks can draw water from them. These tanks are scheduled to be
installed in the coming week. This will qualify us under the Community
Fire Plan for reimbursement. Currently we do not know exactly what the
compensation will be.
On August 20th, Ray
took pictures of the damage done to the front gate. He would appreciate
hearing from anyone who might have any information about the vandalism. The
possibility and reason for damage to the main gate could be because the old
lock is failing on occasion to open. Hopefully the new locks will
resolve this problem.
The Board will be
meeting to determine additional keys that have been requested.
Ray would like to
thank and acknowledge the work of the Utah State Fire Crews under the
direction of Kelly Allen. The crew cleared the center area of the
canyon. They were there on August 11th through 13th. Ray
provided a 50 gallon potable water tank and individual bottled water for the
crew to take on their job sites. He then removed their garbage at the
end of each day.
There was 400 ft of
water line replaced at the bottom spring on August 22nd. This
corrected the problem we were having with the collapsed line. Ray
would like to thank Mike Dean and Bob Wallis for helping install the line
and Ron Hill for the use of his backhoe and also helping with the line. If
anyone has any other problems pertaining to the water, please let Chris Roby
know. We will be installing signs reminding everyone to turn off the
valve when they are finished filing their containers.
