SCRA NEWS LETTER - MARCH 2007

You know you live in Utah when you cannot count on how the season is going to turn out.  This was a strange winter.  We had some members drive their truck to their cabins the week before Christmas.  By the second week of February we had members drive their ATVs from the Monte Cristo parking lot, over the Ant Flat road and to their cabins.  Needless to say that by summer we could be hurting for water, so fill your tanks early and please conserve as much as possible.

In reflection, it seems that we are not concentrating on our problems, but are very willing to pick on individuals.  We all need to try and find valid points on both sides of issues and not try to prove who is right or wrong.  The association was developed as a recreational family community, and we have to consider all parties.  If you attended the last two general meetings or reviewed the minutes, you are aware that there has been some foul language used.  The language definitely needs to be cleaned up.  Failure to do so will result in the offending party being asked to leave.

For most of the past year the governing board members have been talking to different members to get their input on suggested changes to the bylaws.  These ideas have been collected, and we have revised the existing bylaws to improve the association for all concerned. By a unanimous quorum vote, the governing board has approved the revised bylaws and we are presenting them for your approval.

For various reasons we have had the following members resign:  Mrs. Bonnie Love, Messers Ken Love, Jim Hicks and Tony Fox.  We wish them all the very best and greatly appreciate their time, efforts and contributions while serving on the board.  The new secretary is Mrs. Kathy Rochell and an honorary position of Web Master has been created and filled by Mrs. Janae Matue.  Don’t forget to visit our web site; www.scarecanyon.com so you can keep up to date on what is going on or has been approved.  There is also the weather forecast for the general area of Scare, but like I said in the opening line, it is subject to change!

Dues will remain at $80.00 for 2007 and are due in March.  We will be giving up to four free vehicle decals again this year.  Additional stickers are $1.00 each.  We are no longer issuing visitor passes.  It is suggested that the sticker for visitors be affixed on a card, which the visitor can display on the dash.  Make sure you get enough to fill all your needs.  Members have the right to challenge any vehicle on private property or without a permit so be sure to advise any of your family or guests to cooperate.    Remember—motorized vehicles are restricted to SCRA roads or your own property.  No motorized vehicles are allowed on Coldwater property.

Gravel will start as soon as weather permits and the bomb holes in Ant Flat have been graded.  Yes the lower area has received more gravel, but remember everyone starts at the main gate.  We will use a dump truck and pup to deliver the gravel.  The pup will dump on the lower areas and the truck will dump past rocky ridge.

Our picnic and clean-up day is currently scheduled for 23 June.  We need you to help identify and accomplish what work needs to be done.

You can vote on the revised bylaws by mail or at this meeting.  All votes must be received by March 15th.  You must be current on your dues in order to vote and can cast one vote per membership.  If you haven’t received copies of the revised bylaws, they will be available at the meeting or you can contact the secretary.

In closing, remember that old saying,  “Don’t shoot the messengers”.

Have fun and be safe on the mountain…Derek Hunwick
